Tax them like there’s no tomorrow (I mean, lay it on heavy), make them exceptionally expensive in addition to the taxes, and make the mental/psychological screenings to obtain one necessary and thorough.
On top of all that, registered gun owners should be required to be reexamined mentally/psychologically at least every five years. Shit can change. And no grandfathering people in. No one is exempt.
And that’s my tiny rant about gun-control.
I am saying take all the guns away, and I say it without caveat or hesitation.
"Don’t politicize the tragedy" doesn’t come up when people want an inquiry moments after a plane crash or building collapse. It’s considered a necessary step. Why then is it different to call for reform after yet another mass shooting? Why is that " politicizing the tragedy" ? Because those on the gun lobby side want you to forget enabling of carnage their argument prevents and talk about it when politically safe. And if you refuse to play by their rules, youre "politicizing the tragedy". Meanwhile, theres another shooting next week you cant talk about either. And then, the people who dont want YOU to "politicize the tragedy" will explain to you the document thats a blueprint for our society is static and their right to bear arms is inalienable, to prevent TYRANNY. Well, it certainly doesnt prevent tragedy. They can politicize the INTENT OF OUR FOUNDING FATHERS just fine, though. Thats okay! However, we arent allowed to talk about the most recent tragedy and how it renders the flaws in the 200 year old document plain to see. That would be "politicizing the tragedy". This is no different than wanting FAA Reform after a plane crash or building codes reevaluated after a collapse. The only reason it’s ‘NOT OKAY’ is because the Gun Lobby doesn’t want to face the pressure of emotion and the fact they have blood on their hands. To those of you that say "They could have killed people another way", nonsense. When was the last time a dozen people were stabbed on the news?
If you “politicize the tragedy” & try to push for changes, its not that you dont care. Its that you’re sick of seeing this happen every week.
I haven’t watched a single 9/11 retrospective thing and there have been an awful lot of them on tv this week. I haven’t read any articles about the anniversary, nor have I re-read my old blog posts on the subject as I do most years. I have not…
And then I debated whether or not to put it on Tumblr…but I decided it was important. Because in my own way, I can (unfortunately) point out exactly what is wrong with men when they don’t realize how hard it is to be a woman. How we do not have equal opportunities and freedoms in everyday life….
